Kisaeng WIP 03

Began texturing around 2 weeks ago. Progress has been slow these days I discovered, researching took up a huge amount of time, especially when references were so hard to dig from the internet! I found korean culture unappreciated by the masses, search "Kisaeng" in google and you will get what I mean, LOL.

I find this the most painful job until now. I had a hard time to figure out how the pattern flow and those details, most of the references showed only a slight view of this hat (Jeonmo).

This one was referenced from a item I bought from hanbok house. Those sewing lines were created from bump map.

Yeah, the overall so far. As you can see, its still botak.

Hope to have a habit of updating regularly as to keep myself going, I just noticed that we seemed to be losing away the luxury of time. So far, I have been spending time on the drapery, as long as it looks right, I am satisfied LOL.

Tough part of doing an oriental girl, I feel, is the details to their accessories. Another part is also to tackle the clothing, for example, making the folds. To be as accurate as possible, I learnt how to do the butterfly knot so as to complete the model below.

Visited a "Hanbok House" around two months ago, it was located at Novena Square. It's the only traditional korean clothing store in Singapore. Although being just a small store, it contains quite an amount of resources that I need, a kind lady was very helpful to provide me any accessories that I wanted to see, even to the extent of taking photos of them. Below are some photos of the accessory I have been working on currently.

Tried some sketching in Corel Painter, the lines drew seemed to turn out better than what I did in Photoshop. However, the painting tools in the software are so complex, different mediums produced different results. Better stick back to Photoshop for the time being...

Anyway, I am on long leave until 30 dec... Great period for me to chunk out more works...

Photo was taken at matsuri autumn. Was playing with photoshop few days ago, to experiment different filter and colour effects. I was trying to achieve a kind of movie effect, where the background is being cast out from the subject, through depth of field. Hmm, seems like I still have lots to learn in photography =D

Hell Girl (Advance Wars Theme)

Finally, I have finished it, lol. Had been stopping work for quite some time, need to force myself back to doing some drawing! Anyway, this is to illustrate a "tortured soul" of a girl, sent by the satan accompanied with her pet machinery, to stop war and abuse once and for all. The girl is to portrait a female version of a deathslayer.

The concept may sound abit extreme... different from what I did for my initial sketch. More improvement has to be done, haha.
